#44Social, Syracuse University’s student social media team, is a small team of undergraduate interns who bring an authentic experience, voice and spirit to University’s flagship social media channels. Team members are strong communicators, involved students, and advocates for social media and Syracuse University.

Job Title: Intern, Student Social Media Team (#44Social)

Department: Marketing Communications & News Services

Supervisor: Assistant Director, Digital and Social Media

Hours/Week: 10-15 hours per week – time is split between office hours and remote work

Hourly Rate: $10 per hour

Workstudy type: On-Campus Workstudy & Non-Workstudy Students

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Director of Digital and Social Media in accomplishing daily tasks and long-term goals
  • Work individually and as part of a team to develop a variety of content for SU’s flagship social media accounts (such as posts, photographs, graphics, geofilters, gifs, memes, videos, pins, etc.)
  • Monitor social engagement, conversations and SU’s flagship social media accounts
  • Bring knowledge of the student experience and an authentic spirit to SU’s flagship social media accounts
  • Pitch new, creative and innovative ideas
  • Take on additional projects and platforms based on your interests
  • Measure social media data and produce analytical reports
  • Act as an ambassador for Syracuse University and #44Social

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrable mastery of the major social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Excellent written communication skills, proficient in grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Ability to express complex ideas briefly and creatively
  • Ability to produce high-quality work, handle several projects and/or platforms at a time, work as part of a team, receptive to feedback and eager to learn
  • Knowledgeable about social media trends and best practices
  • Photography, video and graphic design skills and/or previous experience maintaining a social media presence will be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently, in a variety of environments and outside of regular business hours
  • Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, responsible, reliable and ambitious
  • Engaged on campus, understand the SU brand and bleed orange!
